Mine sat on a sorn for a year, but I still paid the insurance for peace of mind.

What if I'm storing it at a commercial garage? While I get work done on it over an extended period of time?

Is the place that's doing the work going to insure it against the likely risks? I'd have thought that if it's on their premises and gets damaged/stolen, your insurance company might well refer you to the garage insurance anyway.
