I'm about to resurrect my 1998 300tdi which I now haven't used for about 3 years, as it is now 20years old I was hoping to get some cheap classic insurance, I'm approaching 60 full no claims and all that stuff but so far all quotes are over £350 for a max of 1500miles, it has a few mods bigger intercooler etc but nothing extreme. Is this what I should be expecting to pay or can anyone point me in a direction where I might get a cheaper quote.

98 Fender 300tdi CSW, 12,000 miles per annum, 51 years old, 7 year NCB.
Fully comp @ £24.26 a month with Admiral bought through Meerkats in April..

I pay about £190 a year for my 1995 300tdi 110 through Adrian Flux but that's just for regular insurance not classic. Not sure if it's old enough for classic but it might be?

'89 110 pay £430 on the admiral classic policy and I thought that was a very good price compared to others I looked at.
Insurance prices in general have gone up. Cost me £900 to insure a '52 plate S-type for a year on a limited mileage black box policy .

£160 with Flux. 200tdi defender on classic ins with 5k miles pa. Oh and £15 for agreed value.

£200 ish for a 96 90 300 and 6k per year. When you say full no claims is that actually the NCD built up on a policy you are going to transfer to the landy? If it is a new policy for a second vehicle that you are putting back on the road then you cant use the NCD that has been built up on a first car if you are still keeping the first one insured. Basically in that situation you start with zero NCD for the second car but retain full NCD on the first one. Could be that you have zero NCD on the landy quote which is bumping it up?

Insurance always has been and always will be a minefield and what is good for one will not be the same for another. There are too many factors that affect the quote (age, history, address, vehicle etc etc.

I am early 50's, heavily modified 1986 90 on 6K miles PA and agreed value of £14K, renewed yesterday for £167 which was a drop from last year (same broker) despite my mileage increasing.
