i use Lanchaster insurance. 27 yrs old, 0 - no claims, 200Tdi 1991 defender 90= £480 fully comp, that includes off roading and im also insured for 90 days if i decide to leave the UK in my 90.

Ben

do you have to be over 25 to get NFU? im 19 and the cheepest i can get is £1100 with no mods and id assume no offroading..

i use NFU for both my landy and the car, its costs a lil more but you can ring up the local branch (or even pop in) and on first name terms- and being agricultural they understand that the "modifications" thats on my 90 actually is more likely to help stop damage and therefore didnt charge any more for them - dont think you would get the same for a .com insurance group.

and no there isnt any age limit - been with them since i was 17

right il give them a ring and see what comes of it then! there is one not far from me in chapel.
im sure i heard somewhere thet you had to be 25.. il ask them anyway!

Just remeber to phone your local branch mate, not the national line.

Thanks chaps, I tried NFU but they had too many built in extras that were unnecessary for me pushing the premium up too high, although I dare say they are a good company to go with being a mutual.
Will try Frank Pickles and Sureterm now, best so far for me is £330 ish with Octagon (05 def, clean licence etc etc 41yrs old) (that makes me feel old now seeing my age written down!!)

I'm 36 and after having my liscense removed for medical reasons, i had to reapply for a new liscense and re take my tests.
For a 3rd party F&T it's £857 without any extras with some insurance company ( the rest were giving me £1200+ quotes )

Unfortunately i hadn't looked on here for advice before insuring it, next time i'll be abit more savvy.

Ok, update on this...

I was surprised to find that Direct Line offered the cheapest quote comp. £258 which I thought was good. Unfortunately however as I declared modifications i.e. stainless steel A bar for spot lights this pushed the premium up to £344 and also upped my excess to £500, also they will only insure if the A bar is a genuine Land Rover accessory of which I need to declare to Direct Line - otherwise it will have to be removed, and the premium will be reduced to the original £258.

This seems a tad strange and I know we live in a claim society and there's a safety aspect to be considered but the vehicle is 2005 and bull bar legislation wasnt brought in until may 2007 I thought - either way, its worth clarifying with your insurers as to whether you are insured with a 'Frontal Protection System' to be on the safe side;)

Incidentally, AA and NFU were both around £550 comp.
