Hi,

Quick question, I was wanting to install some driving lights and a rear working light and before I did I was keen to know the following from some experienced people whom have done it.

a) is it easy (I'm a novice in that area)?
b) what tools are required?
c) do I need an aux battery and if I don't do it now is it easy to do later if required.
d) is there a kit including buttons for the dash?

There are two lights on the nudge bar, 4 on the roof rack and one working light on the rear.

Cheers!

In answer to your questions:-

a) It is relatively easy. Check out some of the information on the forum here, and also information on using relays.

b) No special tools are required; wire cutters, screwdrivers, drills, rubber grommets, tie-wraps or preferably plastic flexible conduit. Maybe a portable soldering iron and heat-shrink sleeving or crimp connectors.

c) No, you don't need an aux battery for a fairly standard set of additional lights.

d) Generally, no. There is a Land Rover kit for the driving lights, but it is very, very expensive for what it does and even more unreliable. Other owners tend to use modified switches from other purposes.

There is plenty of information on the forum and the web.

I've just fitted a pair of Terrafirma 8" spots and they come with a wiring kit consisting of fuse, relay and isolating switch with dual LEDs. There's a simple wiring diagram along with some crimps and everything required to do a complete installation apart from something to splice into the main beam feed, The switch wire can be fed through a grommet behind the coolant reservoir. You can buy simple relay, fuse and wiring kits on Ebay, I used to one to rewire my fogs in with the main beam control.
