HI Everyone

OK, been thinking about a Defender for many years and never made the leap.. many reasons, which arent important really.

Looking for some advice on what to buy, where to look and what to look out for, what to spend etc.

See this car as something to nip around in, not long journeys, saying that i'd like it to be reliable.

Cheers

Andy

Mmmm thieves, yes started to hear alot about that... is this a security thing or are thye just an in demand car for thieves?

I've searched alot, however prices, spec's vary so very much and dealers seem tough to find...

I'm in Manchester

Looking for something to use on and off road, i wanted a 90... just prefer the look and don't need the size... the Mrs uses a VW 4x4 for the kids and day to day.

Hi and :welcome2: yes its a security thing, They are very much in demand, You only have to look at the price of bits for them to see why the tea leaves pinch them, If you get one i would suggest you get a Disklok as a security devise

thanks.. there seems to be many examples with a fair bit of mileage for sub 10K

then you get dealers near me like high peak 4x4 who seem to carry cleaner stock, mid teens...

As a first purchase would you recommend going for somehting thats newer?

it's all about service history imo mate mileage shouldn't really matter too much on a defender but as always if you can get low mileage then it's a bonus but a low mileage motor that's not been serviced properly can be worse than one with twice the mileage and good serviceing.

I just got a Defender after looking for about 18 months (I was looking for pretty specific (and needed wifely permission), so it took a while. Sources were mainly eBay, Trovit (car ad aggregator), Auto Trader, and some specialist dealers to compare prices. Eventually found a link to an independent dealer (RJ Landrover-- seem to have good stock, and nice) for what I wanted (130 DC dropside TD5 that was affordable) W-reg w/ 140K.

Good luck!
