I bought new inner wings for the series 3; I ended up buying galvanized, question is, should I coat them? Guess I would need etch primer then coat of what ever or maybe underseal as an alternative.

Galv coating will only be thin and if it gets chipped the metal will rust just like any other bit of steel so its probably worth just taking 5 minutes and coat them in underseal :)

where did you get them from by the way? im after a set for mine

Thanks to both for the feedback, I will indeed give them an underseal :)
Got them out of Paddocks Sam; they had steal but I decided to get the Galv coated: I expected Brit part but they are unlabeled or marked so not sure: They are really quite good quality, good thickness and well made, I'm happy with them.
Paddocks item number is:
Left Mudshield - Galvanised (MRC6082GALV)
Right Mudshield - Galvanised (MRC6081GALV)
Steering Box Cover - Galvanised (330459GALV)

Thanks for the that :) Shall be on my (ever expanding) shopping list :)

Personally i'd go the whole hog and get them t-washed and then a good coat of paint and then underseal, the more protection on there the better

If I was to paint as well which i dont mind doing. Would galv require and etch primer? I'm guessing it would:rolleyes: Only because its the only thing I dont have in the cupboard :D

I confess Ill have to google that and read up on it as I've never herd of it. Always willing to learn: like now I've learnt that that had I bought the steal instead of the Galv it would have been easier and cheaper to protect them :scratching_chin: :pound:

I replaced mine last year but didn't realise galv ones were available then. They would probably be fine even if left unpainted. The zinc fuses into the steel to should be pretty resistant to stone chips as its more than just a coating. Certainly galv chassis seem to bear up fine. I would paint them though, just for peace of mind. I think YRM metal also supply these liners now.

I had the steal ones on my wishlist for ages at Paddocks; like most peoples list its always bigger than my wallet  I cant even remember how the Galv ones appeared on the screen, when I did a search they didint show; it wasn't until the last minute of ordering I spotted them, glad I did. Appreciate everyone's feedback and ideas thanks to all.
