injector pump solenoid

Hello people, im hopeing someone can help just removed my cut off solenoid from the injector pump. on removal the solenoid pulled out but the plunger stayed put in the injector pump easy removal with grips but my question is should the plunger be a part of the solenoid with just a small amount of open and close movement or should this plunger just fall out when the solenoid is held upright Cheers guys

they are 2 parts well 3 with the little spring
