I have an 1100CCA battery on my Landy, with heater plugs on starting.
However, I have recently started having problems with her firing up, and been told that the battery is flat!
The engine cranks over withour any problems, and I have had to use it to move off a main road, so I don't think hat the battery is the problem, even if it goes down to 11.5V.
Could anyone tell me the operating voltage range of the pump solenoid, as I would have expected something in the range of 10.5V to 14.8V, although I could (more than likely) be wrong!
Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Trouble starting on the key, but will bump start with no problems, as there would be only the alternator voltage being used and not the dropped voltage due to starting ... if that makes sense.

The solenoid can get “tired”, or the starter can be taking all the battery output leaving little or nothing to power solenoid, likewise a partially discharged battery services the starter and leaves nothing for solenoid, what’s it like after overnight charge or jumpstart ( boost) ?

How about running a wire from batt+ to the solenoid and then seeing if it’ll start on the key?
I get 10.something volts on my solenoid when the engine is cranking. I tested it when my mate had an identical problem.....
Btw he just fitted a switch in the wire from the battery to the solenoid as a temp fix ( about a year ago!!!!)

Great anti theft device

What land rover / engine do you have ?
12J NAD.
I had thought about replacing the solenoid, as in well over 40 years I have never known one to fai! However, there's always a first time.
It's a good idea to fit a "temporary' switch to provide a feed directly from the battery to the solenoid.

I doubt its your solenoid, crack off an injector pipe and get someone to crank it over, that will soon tell you.

Tried crankking over with injectors cracked, and they were all dry, so that points towards the solenoid, don't you think?
I shall see if i have a spare to change it over, or else I'll put a battery feed to it via a switch.
Hopefully, I will be able to do it this weekend ... if my persistant cough allows!

Ive had a couple fall on tdis, (copy ones mind you) get you home cure is remove solenoid, chuck spring and plunger in the bin refit solenoid body and drive home, of course you then have to stall it.

I certainly do think so, try a live feed to it first just to make sure it isnt a wiring fault.

Many thaks for all of your help and advice.:D:D
I will let you know how I get on when I am able to go outside without goughing my guts up.
