worked ok normally

stopped working whilest towing an old trailer.
Normally would have noise to indicate that they were working. However on this occassion no noise when using left and right stopped working after about a mile. Kept going as not going far.

Have changed stalk 4 new one still no joy any ideas

cheers

Has the relay in the dashboard gone kaput? or has connecting your trailer blown a fuse maybe? Mine stopped working and all i did was change the relay behind the speedo, mine was fastened to the bottom of the dashboard/speedo casing.

last time mind did it it was the fuse that had blown, but have had the relays go on them before, tis most likly wiring probs more than the indicator or socket? also if the socket is wired wrong or the trailers wired wrong, yer will have fun

If the fuse dunt fix it, and its the original 2 wire flasher unit, link the 2 wires going to the unit with something and try again, the lights should just stay on instead of flashing, if theres still no work, then as allready suggested possible wiring knacked.

Undo the two big screws, pull the dash board out, reach behind and disconnect the speedo cable. Easier if yo have foot long fingers with four joints in each! There should be enough play in the cable to get at the flasher unit without disconnecting the cable. Removing the steering wheel, if it comes off easily, can help.
When replacing the speedo cable use a LHD one. it is slightly longer, and gives a bit more free play to play with.

Yep you need to get at the unit.
If you really struggle with it, you could disconnect the other end on the box to get some more slack, that said if you struggle a bit it can be done.
From everything said so far sounds like the flasher units toast.
Draw a line with a marker on the sterring shaft/wheel if you remove it so that it goes back right.
