Indicator stalk removal 300tdi 95 disco

Hi can anyone tell me how to remove the indicator stalk on my 95 disco, it's not cancelling on left turn, any help appreciated,
Have tried searchers but cannot find much, probable me searching in the wrong area

remove cowling round steering wheel. & stalk slides off central mounting. But if it's the selfcancelling ring that's goosed then you need to remove steering wheel anorl,

What redhand says .. I bought an indicator stalk set when mine stopped cancelling, took it off and it's a collar thing that fits to the steering wheel that breaks .. couldn't find one cheap so mine doesn't self-cancel at all now ...

Thanks for the help, it cancels turning right but not left, is it much of a problem to take the steering wheel off, from what you both said I would think it's that collar at fault, I found a small piece of plastic sat in the bottom cover ?

27mm socket for steering wheel, (same as wheel nuts.) Leave the nut on a couple of turns so wheel doesn't fly off and twaat yu in the chops while ya getting it off. May need a hammer on the back to loosen it or if all else fails a steering wheel puller (flat bar with 2 holes drilled to match the holes in the wheel. & 2 m8? nuts & bolts hand tighten bolts thru plate & into wheel then start to wind nuts against bar so it pushes onto steering wheel nut tighten alternate nuts until wheel comes loose

The horn surround is soft, and the centre horn is just pushed into the hole. A thin penknife blade or screwdriver can be inserted to lever out the horn centre. Just be careful .. there's a couple of wires ...

Have you got an airbag on the steering wheel? (Doubt it but thought I'd ask) If you have all bets are off and please, disregard all I said about penknives ...

i know this is an old thread but when you say the stalk should slide right off, i've removed the 2 securing screws but i can't seem to release the stalk. can someone please put it in idiot terms for me

Once the steering wheel is removed and the plastic cowling ,there is a phillips (cross head) screw underneath the indicator stalks housing that is pointing towards you that cannot be seen ( use mirror) undo that a couple of turns and the whole set up comes off the steering shaft ,the screw driver blade end will be pointing directly at yourself . Thats if you need to remove the whole assembly
