Hi All,

I've recently resprayed my 90, and on reassembling the indicators they dont seem to function using either the stalk or the hazard switch.

I've followed through this article: Hazard Switch & Indicators - fault diagnosis - Defender Forum - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum and have removed the hazard switch to do some tests on the wiring plug that fits on to it.

I've connected "permanent supply" to "left indicators", then on to "right indicators". When I do this the indicator light illuminates on the dash for both, but none of the bulbs on the exterior of the vehicle illuminate? I am missing the indicator bulb on the passenger wing, but I wouldn't expect this to be the cause?

I've not knowingly knocked any other wiring, all I removed for my respray was the indicators, side and main headlights. The side and headlights all work fine.

Does anyone have any bright ideas what could be the cause?

Thanks in advance,
Ollie

Hi Lads,

Just to clear it up, after tracing all the wires as per the link, and determining that the hazard switch wasnt at fault, i popped my multimeter on to the flasher relay. Everything seemed fine which was odd. I gave it a little shake, plugged it back in and the indicators and hazards worked again.. Result!!

I can only assume, although the landy had been stored in a dry barn, some moisture had got into the unit.

I've got a similar problem the indicators don't work but the hazards do and the flasher unit is ok, have tried a replacement indicator stalk but no success, any suggestions?

Its worth checking out the link in my first post, then testing the connections which go into the hazard switch. This will allow you to check whether its the switch which is at fault. If not you can then trace the connections to the stalk and also check the flasher unit/relay.
