I have an 1985 defender 110 truck cab that I'm rebuilding. The electrics seem to be more like a series 3 than Defender in their wiring and parts.
I have two issues one with the indicators. In that if I put the right hand indicator on or the left it has the same result in that both sides light as if the hazards are on. The hazards lights seem to work ok except that the trailer light flashes on the dash board. I have replaced the hazard switch, flasher unit and new Lucas indicator stalk. Also checked all the earths that I can find.
My other issue is that the fog light only works on dipped head lights only is this correct?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards Andy

Have you got glass fuses still?
You have relays that prevent the fog lights working with high beam on so they are fine;)
When hazard light is used the trailer light will light up.
Trailer light will also flash once when using the indicators

check the earths for the indicator faults

Thank you for replying.
Yes I have glass fuses.
That helps a lot. What other warning lights should work eg indicator, diff, 4x4 and the hand brake although I cannot find a switch for this.
I'm guessing some models have more warning lights in use than others?
I have now found that the new indicator stalk may be at fault as it sends power to both left and right wires at the same time which ever it is moved.

No handbrake switch(not fitted)
Diff lock light should work.
Most other warnings don’t exists on the early motors.

what engine & gear box?

Thanks again.
It is a hi cap 110 which has had a lot of work done on it in the past. I bought it as a pile of bits in some bodies garage.
As I didn't strip it down it has made putting back together more changeling.
It has a later td200 fitted and lt77 gear box and a galvanised chassis (previous put on by somebody). It now has lots of new bits and recondition parts on it,
