Hello Everybody,

I've just signed onto this forum.

I have an indicator problem which I'm sure has been talked about at some point before, but I'd be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction.

Dashboard light flashes quickly. I know this means a bulb problem and sure enough front n/s not working. A bang with my fist and it's working fine. A few days later repeat of problem. Checked access in handbook. Aha ! I thought - access via wheelarch, must be a corrosion problem. Removed bulb-holder, then bulb. Clean as a whistle !!

So I guess problem must originate in main unit where bulb-holder plugs in.

So, question : How do I investigate ? Where do I get access ? Help !

Thanks for listening. Frank

If it works when you hit it its normally the bulb! The filament breaks, then you hit it it moves makes contact and welds itself back on. Then it breaks of again until you hit it. Just change the bulb, bet it fixes it;)

Thanks for the advice DD But............................

Went back out to the car and removed the bulb again. To my amazement I found same value bulb in my garage and replaced it.

Guess what ? The same fast 'ticking' and flashing and no light from front n/side. The filaments on both bulbs look perfect !!

Leads me back to my original question......................

Probably a faulty bulb holder - just had exactly the same thing with my rear indicator, and my tail/brake light. New bulb holders purchased and put in and problem gone.

Just re-investigated and found that the bulb-holder has a metal contact on either side and one of these has burnt through - clearly the problem. Not sure how I didn't see this before ! At least I can confidently order a new one.
