In-line fuel filter or not?

I have a couple of those ****parts inline fuel filters and wonder if it's worth fitting one to my S3. It doesn't have one currently and no reason for me to think it needs one but as I have a couple just wonder if it's worth sticking one on. If so where abouts ...dizzy side or manifold side to help with carb icing as I have seen suggested?

Cheers,

Andy.

What side did you put it Serv? I have a small rubber tube (about 3") which connects the fuel line to the carb and I could fit one end of the filter in that and get another small piece to then connect the fuel line back to the filter. I have seen some people saying that the heat of the manifold can create air in it though - on the other hand they have suggested the heat can also help stop my carb icing up. Otherwise I guess it's a case of bridging it just after the fuel lift somewhere. For visibility alone, putting it just before the carb would be ideal.

??

thats where mine was fitted, just before the carb.
it never fill completely, as it was horizontal and air locked the top half.
initially i held it vertical until it filled, but never bothered after.
never had problems with carb icing tho.

I've never had anything get past the gauze filter on the lift pump and there's not a great deal of stuff in the sediment bowl either. I did put a new tank on some years ago so there's no rust flakes to worry about.

My sediment bowl does get a few particles in over a few weeks but I still have no reason to suspect any problems. In fact, I took the carb off recently for a look and it was clean as a whistle and that was probably the first time in years it's been looked at.

I think as I have two filters I may as well fit one inline and keep a spare. It's a 5 minute job and a piece of **** to remove completely if need be. .....So long as there's no problem with it affecting performance or something similar?
