I'd say you'd stand more chance of making something useful by starting off with something like this

I think there was another one similar looking in one of the stalls but full room hinged up and was made in Germany. The guy was asking 7K odd for roof on its own. It's obviously not your one.

Yours looks awesome by the way.

PS At £2,500 the room is at a very good price, similar price range to Dormobile's roof.
