So as i'v been planning for sometim after fixing and checking every tiny thing on my 90 TD befor heading on the 240 mile trip to north wales - low and bohold we get 10 miles on the motorway and it won't get above 45mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Acting just like fuel starvation, so drained a couple of liters of crud and water out of the tank - no joy, checked the fuel fileter drain - near diesel, tryed the lift pump - seemed to be comming up against pressure well. - Eventually gave up and borrowed a car half way.

So what went wrong - well after dismanteling the fuel fileter - a large ball of alge was found growing in it . This had not caused a problem at slow speeds around London, but on the motorway it was fatal.....

Apparently the WVO I have been using at a 80/20 mixture was contaminated with alge (which grows in diesel or even beter cooking oil)- it also turns the cooking oil into a paste, which obviously the fuel filter loved -

SO THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD IS TO WARN ANYBODY THINKING OF USING WVO IS TO PUT A LOT OF DIESEL BIOSIDE IN REGULARLY

But on a good note i tnow crused on the way back at 70-80mph with four people in an 8 rucksacks of winter climbing gear (which is not the lightest stuff in the world)
