Hoping someone can help with this.
Did all series 3s have the ignition switch on the column?
The reason i ask is that when i bought my landy, the switch was missing, the wiring loom in a mess and the column has this cover over the hole.
It looks like a proper cover but if so, where should the switch be?

My ignition switch is secured by a bracket to the steering column - it's the version without the steering lock.
 
is it petrol or diesel might have one.. hanging round the garage the cover is to do with the steering lock mech on later models..
 
i'll have a dig as i think they are not made any more so could be hard to get.. also have a look for the parts manual and service guide on the tech sections they are like the landrover bible and are great for figuring out what you need.
