Has any body else had any problems with ht leads on the 4.6 thor. I fitted magnecore's about 10 months ago and was all fine until about 2 months ago when the car had the head gaskets replaced. There was a miss fire, replaced coil packs, no change. I started the car up last night in the dark and I could see sparks flying all over the leads like a fire work going of. Just spoke to a very nice chap at magnecore and he asures me magnecore leads don't go wrong.

I am positive it's the leads. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Hello ------,

I would think it likely due to moisture and grime, starting two months ago when the summer monsoons hit.

If you spray all the ignition components with a moisture inhibitor such as WD40 and wipe clean with a dry cloth you might eliminate both possibilities in one go.

Dont overlook the innnards of any components you can undo.

Check for contamination around the spark plugs and their insulators - out of sight they can get really dirty without knowing.

Could the HT leads have been damaged/trapped or contaminated when the head gaskets were being replaced?

The only other thing I can think of is the spark plug gaps are too large and the sparks prefer to jump to earth via an easier route.

Alternatively if the supplier says their leads never go wrong then offer to send yours back for replacement.
