Has anyone got any ideas about the following problem that my car has.
It's a 2005 54 Vogue dual fuel (petrol/LPG) that, at random times, (normally having stopped for LPG) with all the normal steady indicator lights on the dash board you can turn the ignition key turns but there is no starter engagement. This originally was diagnosed as a starter motor problem so it was replaced. The same thing happened again with the new starter motor & this was put down to being unlucky and having another dodgy starter motor so this too was also replaced.....guess what, it's still doing it with the third starter motor. This has now also been replaced by Landrover under warranty but it still periodically wont start. The lower part of the ignition barrel was also changed but all to no avail. It appears to misbehave more frequently in warm weather but that may just be an impression on my behalf. It normally fails to start after the car has been used and then stopped and left for a short while then attempted to restarted.
The battery has also been replaced and is fully charged and the terminals are tight. When the key is turned and it doesn't start, there are no loud audible clicks but there is a very soft click type noise from the starter area but definately not the normal solenoid type sound.
My local mechanic has run a wire directly from the battery to the starter but even this wont get the starter to turn when its misbehaving. After a while it will turn the starter & this hot wire will then start the engine. (If I leave the car for approximately 40 minutes it will then start normally).
This problem doesn't often manifest itself and the car will often run normally for weeks before it just won't start after being out on a run.
Has anyone had any experience of these problems or have any good ideas as it's really getting irritating!
