have had my disco 1 v8i landy renzo gas conversion single point....
have had this truck 2 yrs now and its started to dig a hole right through my pocket and into my bank balance!!!!!
i have had fuel problems in the past (petrol) and have replaced all the relays the fuel pump and fuel filter and have also had the spider removed too which all did not cure my fuel problems (petrol) any way it usually starts fine and i run it on gas ( being an ostrich)
so over the last day or so i have had prop problems.... which i duly fixed being the caring landrover owner that i am!!!!!!
so all running fine till i came to go home from the outlaws last night!!!!!
started fine but seemed to run lumpy at low revs and even cut out once or thrice!!!!!
since buyin this landy i have lost all confidence with mechanics and auto electricians misdiagnosing and fitting repairing parts that dont need to be!!!!
im not too bad at takin bits off n replacing them but when it comes to electrics n ignitions im not the best... ( find my main tool .. a hammer doesnt help with finicky bits!!!!!)
readin the threads about this problem baffles me!!!
is it the coil???
is it the capacitor????
is it the ecu???
is it the airmeter???
is it worth it??????
the mot is due next month and i keep thinkin is it worth throwin more money at her or shud i sell her for bits????
more importantly if i keep her can anyone point me in the right direction of a mechanic who knows what their doing with a v8 on gas?????
preferably one near the ol6 postcode????
many thanks in advance arca

tbh andy i dont have a clue anymore i seem to fix something on it then summat else goes wrong.... i have a feeling its a coil problem but im not sure anymore and my head is in bits reading all the threads .... problem is as soon as i say its on gas half the mechanics i know go.... ooohh im not gettin involved with gas mate.... and the other half seem to replace part after part in the hope of getting the problem solved!!!!
does anyone know of a decent mechanic whos not afraid of lpg near the ol6 postcode????
posssible that it could be an airleak as it always seemed to fluctate when on petrol at tickover but no probs on gas.... but now its missing on gas and petty at low revs.... had to rev her in neutral then slam her in drive otherwise she just died at takeoff!!!!!
but then its possibly an airflow meter and or a ecu reading the threads pmsl!!!!
or a cracked dizzy and or ive tidyed up the ht leads a bit too much???????

sat in all day pondering the problem and perusing the various threads......andys comment " could it be an air leak" kept poppin into my head..... airleak i thought ive had that before...... went to have a peek and sure as eggs is eggs the rubber pipe between airflow meter and my single point injection was torn..... now ive had this prob before usually because its been backpopping on the gas...... usually it doesnt pop as i keep ontop of leads and plugs... but chattin to the mrs she explained that she had forgot to tell me that it popped again the other day!!!!!!!!
so i took out the spare bit of pipe and fixed it on...... thought that it would cure the problem.... it didnt took it to my mechanic mate( who wont touch it as its gassed and apparently not worth the arguments if he makes a mess!!!!) and he said its either your ht leads are on there way out or a sparkplug on its way out?????
so thanks andy and i feel another thread coming on!!!!!

some people have had problems with the dizzy itself! check the wiring that goes to the dizzy and also the "air gap" inside the dizzy under the rotor arm. if you get stuck i will gladly try and help as i also live in ashton! im not saying i will fix it but im not thick and have limited knowledge on gas. all it will cost you is a brew.

thanks colin dunno about the dizzy im pretty sure its the ht leads (again) had a feel round and yup you guessed it it bit me... been chatting to a mate with a gassed v8 110 and he swears by magnecor leads so me thinks ill be bodgin it up after ive looked in the dark to see which leads are arcing out then after ive mot eed her itll be magnacor leads n a forte flush n new oil to see if she performs a lot better....
its good to know theres a fellow landy nut close to me im sure i will be calling on you in the future as theres a funny rumbling coming from my transfer box
thanks arca

well shes up n runnin a tad rough but not as rough as before... ive replaced dizzy n rotor arm with lucas spent a fortune on magnecor leads and fitted new ngk plugs..... mot on monday then a forte oil flush and magnetec oil after..... dunno whether this will stop it runnin a bit off or whether its maybe 1/2adegree out on the timing???
only seems to happen on the gas side but they always show up faults more than petrol!!

vacuum advance and mechanical advance weights if faulty will run like a piece of **** under load

dunno what it is as rough as it was runnin before i replaced all the parts i thought it was a spark plug goin down but they all looked good as did the rotor n dizzy.... got a few belts of the ht leads so i replaced the lot... it seems to sputter on low revs but ive no idea whats causin it.... ill flush her after the mot n treat her to magnatec oil... if that dont cure it i think ill be seein the boys at landranger again!!!!!!!!
i know its summat n nothin but i cant put my finger on it....like i said i think she may be 1/2 a degree out???????
