If I have 235/85 tyres, can I have a 7.50 spare??

Evening all..... I'm thinking about changing the 7.50x16 Michelin XLZ's on my ex-MOD D90 for some 235/85x16's with an AT pattern that'll be a bit better behaved on tarmac.

The question is, do I need to buy 5 new tyres or can I get away with 4, and use the existing 7.50x16 on the bonnet as a "get you home" spare?

All tyres would be radials, so no problems with mixing on an axle, but are there any other legal (or practical) loopholes I should consider??

The 7.50x16 is almost the same diameter as the 235/85x16, so it won't be a problem for short distances.
