idle air control valve

could i please get advice on removeing valve and cleaning and with what on my range rover p38 1994 v8 4.6 thanks for any help

The stepper motor is held on with a couple of small bolts, undo these and the motor just pulls out. The cone shaped end can be cleaned with carb. cleaner or similar. More important is to clean the cavity that the stepper sits into, paying particular attention to the bypass hole which tends to get blocked with crud.
I'm talking about a V8 by the way.
