Hi all,

I'm looking to rebuild a lightly binding front brake caliper (1993 200tdi) and have read in the forums that avoiding Britpart seals and pistons is the way to go. Having searched for available kits (Rimmer Bros ebay and similar), their aftermarket parts are just labelled as 'aftermarket' with no marked brand.

Other than going for genuine LR Parts, how can I avoid the questionable quality parts?

Don't worry too much about the name on the box, most of the aftermarket suppliers will sell you junk made in China if all you do is base your purchase on price alone.

By Britpart by all means, they are after all a supplier not a manufactutrer, just ensure you get parts with the suffix "G" in the part number. "G" is for genuine, as in made by the original supplier to Land Rover. G parts from Britpart will cost more than their cheapest pattern stuff but a lot less than in a Land Rover box from a main dealer.

Excellent advice, and many thanks for it. I would rather pay more and get better performance, but without necessarily going to the OE item, so knowing about the 'G' is most useful.
