identify what type of gearbox i have?

Hi there ive just got myself a Landy 94 tdi 110
and i want to check the gearbox oil im wondering what type of oil ?
do i need to identify what type of gearbox i have?
and if so how do i do it?
will be crawling under it tomorrow!

providing reverse gear is behind 5th you have an r380 , dexron atf 2 or 3, or mtf94 ,you need 3 litres,

reverse gear on the gear knob is far left then forward...is this what you mean?
never had a landy before.

lt77 then which is dexron 2 or 3 still need 3 litres though the box holds slightly less

Hi there whats the difference between 2 and 3?
and is it simple job to change the oil?

Draining the oil is easy but make sure the fill plug is undone first, if you drain the oil and then find the fill plug is stuck and you need more advice....you can't get the oil back in and your off the road!
Getting the fresh oil in is a bit of a faff because of where the fill plug is.
Park on level ground too.
