Hi All
New member hoping for some clues...………
Just wondering if anyone may have a clue to a small heart stopping moment shortly after beginning our drive back from Megeve, France, last week.
After getting down the mountain(20 mins) and onto the Autoroute (another 10 mins or so) the Restricted Performance Warning popped up! Fortunately we were only a short distance from a service area, so stopped, turned off and pulled the bonnet.
A heat haze was coming from the back of the engine after taking off the cover. TBH I was thinking some ripe Anglo Saxon phrases and expecting a long journey back to the UK on a recovery truck.
SWMBO was stoic and calm whilst I pondered our options.
In the best tradition of taking ones time I left it alone for 25 mins, before turning on the ignition to see if any other warnings had sprung up and our Blue Beast was utterly busted.
Much to my relief and surprise all the warnings had cleared! So restarted, gave him 5 mins of idle, then headed off North again, fully expecting something ominous at any moment.
All was well!
My query therefore is, for future ref, what is at the back of the engine that could and in all likelihood had got covered in refrozen snow from our pottering about during the week in the "freezer" that would cause the Restricted Performance to kick in?
That's the 2010 L322 4.4 TDV8 question.
Secondly, has anyone got an easy DIY fix to the roof liner sagging in a (very) hot climate? I have tried spray glue but it simply doesn't want to stick to the layer of foam that is under(over) the cloth.
Any clues gratefully received.
Owning a RR is transport and a hobby all in one after all.

on the headlining, look at Martrim for the fabric and glue kit. there's a guide to doing the P38 on here, much the same.

with the sagging roof liner, the fabric has a foam pad, when the foam deteriorates, the fabric falls, there will be old foam dust, between the headliner and the fabric. spray glue will look awful. you can do a headliner replacement in day, going very carefully, ive done it twice now on a classic and P38 reckon I could get it done before lunch time now, from start to finish.

So JLR haven`t learnt much if a 2010 year motor is suffering from sagging headlining, hot as if its a new problem its been going on for forty years:(

To be fair to JLR the sagging headlining in on a car in the UAE where the temps reach insane heights, 50 deg C plus.
Also the reliability or rather the oppisite us so well known nobody who buys a LR or RR can be surprised or complain with any degree of honesty. It is part of the charm imho, as I said transport and a hobby!
Btw I do NOT work for JLR just love the cars!

I gather in the UAE there is also problems with the rubber items, tyres cracking and hoses and such like due to the heat.

It is certainly cheaper than the UK or Europe, that is for sure. Currently Super Petrol is about 50p per litre. That said the price has increased greatly over the last 10 years.
