May not be as bad as you think. How far and hard did you drive it home? It was a hot day round here today. It could be clogged radiator, or sticky thermostat, or water pump, before you get to head gasket. How did you find the vendor, if e-bay they offer a refund scheme from Pay-Pal payments. The Police would only be interested if criminality was involved, even then they might not do anything, too understaffed. Trading Standards could do something but only if a False Description had bee applied and you could prove it.Land Rovers like you to love them, and to show it; you may well love to forgive its little needs. Perhaps: I adore my P38 but I keep have to remind myself that someone very rich first owned it, and paid to have its little problems fixed!

I tracked down the seller and after a few heated conversations got 300 pound back . Lanny is in garage head gasket caused by bad design you could say something to do with thermos housing I think will find out properly so I can post for other suffering owners
Garage put a new water pump and a new cap on the tank at a cost of 240 pounds. He took it for a good hard drive and Ive given it some short stop start journeys and its been great
Discovered the 2 rear Windows don't work and I've checked all fuses,even swapped relays around in the fuse box.?????Glad to hear it's working out for you after such a difficult start
