Hi There,
I am new here. I have an issue that I have read a bit about but have been trying for weeks now to solve.
Key fob will not deactivate the immobilizer. I can get into the truck via the driver's side with mechanical key into lock, but I cannot even turn the starter to auxiliary.
Over the months my battery seemed to lose power. I had changed the battery once before when I had to be within 2 inches from the door locks to unlock or lock them.
A cheap battery from the dollar store (pound shop) did the trick.
But the fob began to do same thing about 2 months later.
The Land Rover dealer advised me to purchase a battery from any store as it would be cheaper than theirs, when he used the key to open the door locks and noticed the issue.
It seemed simple enough. No special instructions went along with this.
I did just that and after purchasing, duracel, ever ready, etc. and finding that each one did not solve the issue.
All seemed to work when pressing a button as the red led lights would illuminate when depressed. But the trucks' doors would not unlock and lock easily and the alarm would now sound when I did open the door. Once I put the key into the ignition the alarm would silence and I was able to drive away no problem.
For about a week, I kept the backing off the fob trying to ensure the battery was snug in the casement and that the button key pad was making contact with the board within the fob. I did note that when the fob key pad was pressed the led light would flash and when held would flash quickly.
Until one morning when the circuit board had fallen from the key and was found on the ground the next morning. When I replaced it into the plastic housing and opened the truck door with the mechanical key, the alarm sounded as usual but the key in the ignition did not silence it this time and I could not turn the key in the ignition at all.
The truck has been in this position for over a month now.
I have fully charged the truck battery. And disconnected it so that when I go in and out of the truck it does not go off all the time.
I was not provided with an EKA number when I purchased the truck second hand from a dealer. I have since asked for this and they say that 2007 do not have one. That their is a code that is used to recode the key to the car but he did not give this to me either.
I found a generic number for an EKA and tried in multiple times with no success. 1515
Today, I tried
unlock holding the key unlock button and key in lock hold for 15 seconds and then turning to lock and holding lock button for 15 seconds,
removed key and then replaced and turned to unlock while holding unlock button 5 seconds, and turned to lock while holding lock button 5 seconds, again 4 more times in this direction and then repeated from unlock one more time. I can hear the door mechanisms working as I press and turn the key.
And the side marker lights on the side of the truck are continually flashing.
I then opened the door and the alarm did not go off this time. I put the key into the ignition but could not turn it or start it.
I closed the door and tried the 1515 code again, this time when I opened the truck door the alarm sounded.
I then disconnected the battery and left it like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
