I need advice on 2a ambulance

Hi all my dad has ex military land rover series 2a ambulance he has lost his leg and want to know can he make it automatic if that possible thx for all the help paddy

You can put an auto in a Series landrover but its tough with the 2.25 engine. The few that are done tend to be Rover v8's with auto boxes.

Have a look/ask on the series2forum, there were a few auto conversions, nearly all were done due to disabilities.

That would be my preferred method, followed by a v8 and the matching auto from an old range rover. Neither of which keep originality, but both are doable with a bit of engineering to keep the vehicle usable.

Using a donor also means you've got all the required parts at hand and you can see the engine and box running

+1 to that, you can pull off all the harness and any ECU boxes all connected and carry over as is.

Don’t want an Ecu. That is far to modern. Go for a good old fashioned set up from an early disco or range.
