I have a rusty boot floor, is panel removable?

Hiya everyone, just need someone to talk to, a bit of counceling regarding my rusty Disco 1 boot floor.

Wondered if the boot floor panel just lifted out, looks like it should, no time to search got to make the tea before her indoors comes back from shopping, wasted enough time as it is.

I've taken the ' sponge ' out from under the carpet and the carpet and just put the rubber mat back in for now while it dries out.

That looks brand new compared to mine

, but I think it's spot welded in place.

I'll get a wire brush on it Monday and have a look at the seams.

Starting pre MOT checks, due in April or maybe March not sure. Chassis aint to bad but I thought if I could just lift that panel out then I could fettle the chassis from above.

Need a lot of time its about 200 pages

and not all to do with boot floors, I might get time on Mon or tues evening.

That looks lovely, why you can't even see the ground and I bet when you out things in the boot they don't fall through!!

Spot welds are best addressed with a spot weld drill bit. A std drill bit can catch your tank which is very close to the top at the back.

Personally looking at that I would get a grinder and grind it back an patch if necessary. TRUST me, for that little bit of rust it isn't worth all the hassles of removing the floor.

I would take the flakey rust off and see what you are left with. If no holes, treat it with fertan or something similar and give it plenty of paint and jobs a good un. In terms of rust, that's one of the better ones I have seen.

Wire brush and treat the rust, the replacement floor doesnt cover some of the ares you have

That floors practically new!

Far easier to leave it in place, treat it and paint it

All sounds very good then, I want it to be in excellent order when I sell it in the new year, no bodges.
I have renewed all brakes with calipers discs and pads and done the front swivels with new bearings and seals so all the axle stuff is in excellent order.
Engine is sound, uses no oil or water. transmission has a little slop but I think its the transfer box as the axles/drive shafts/flanges etc are in good condition.
Will be a good buy for someone when I get me 90 on the road which will be just after the Disco has an MOT in March or April hopefully.

Anyway, I'll treat the floor and spray underneath with oil an stuff and hope for the best.
