Disco 2 I.C.E Speaker list.

On my list of jobs to do is a double din head unit conversion for my D2 for both the massive improvement in capability (navigation, phone sync, digital music storage etc) but also the more modern, aesthetic improvement of a touchscreen.

As part of this project I can’t help but feel that it would be a good thing to update the 14 year old speakers.
To save me having to pull the whole trim (near enough) apart to count/measure the speakers, does anyone have a list of sizes/locations?

Also, I’ve a feeling that I’ve read somewhere that there is an amplifier/processor secondary to the head unit hidden somewhere. Is this correct or just a fabrication of my imagination? If that is correct, where would I find this?

Depends on the spec of your Discovery.

Amp is usually under the passenger seat.

It’s a 2004 TD5 ES Premium if that helps. I’ll have a look, thank you.

Speakers.

• Two hi-frequency tweeters, one each in the "A" pillars.
  
• Two hi-frequecy tweeters, one each in the rear passenger doors.
  
• Four mid range units, one in each door.
  
• Two mid/bass units in the rear tailgate. I believe that there's also a sub-woofer amplifier built into the unit in the tailgate.
  
• Yes, the main amplifier and distribution system is under the front passenger's seat.
  
• The CD auto-changer unit (if fitted) is under the driver's seat.

It all depends on the spec of your ICE system.
