Has anyone tryed running there diesel on hydraulic oil as fuel or a mix of diesel and hydraulic oil . I have quite large quantity of clean oil and as people seem to run there diesels on staight vegy oil from tescos It would seem a shame to dispose of it if I could Burn it in the Disco instead . I'm shore I'm not the only person with access to this sometimes waste product lets recycle it and depribe Gorden Brown of a bit more TAX!!

Wouldn't advise it TBH mate :(

The deisel engine was originaly designed to run on peanut oil hence it being well suited to veg oil ........... hybollix oil however is not of the same nature and aside from burning in clouds of blue smoke would probably fook the engine and fueling system right up

 Good point about hyd oil being ok for seals. If I do a 25% Hyd 75% diesel mix then it should be thin enough and have enough calories to go bang. May try it on an old fork truck first just in case. Mind you i've seen trucks run on worse than this

As far as I am aware hydralic fluid eats certain rubber. I have an old Cit Xantia to knock abot in and the LHM hydralic fluid bottle says it is to be specificaly used in Citroen hydralic systems only due to this fact. Would work great in a normal brake system as it will not compress until the brake lines disolve. So im not to sure what it would do to your injection pump seals????

Does it have to me a certain spec? I got 50litres from a hydraulic hose repair place. Just put it through a 1 micron filter.Goes good but only doing 30% mix.

I would not be saying on an open forum that i was running on mineral oil or saying that i added kero to my fuel, either could get your disco taken and crushed and you could also be provided with a big fat tax bill for non paid road fuel duty.

Who me? Duty is paid on it and I can prove it. Its not red and I have receipts. Such a small percentage would be comsidered an additive. Checked before I did it trust me.

And yes the filter takes out anything though it can't take moisture. Look at the link I posted. Was intrigued to know if anyone else used a system like that

Yes it'll burn like any other oil.

I know a guy that runs a tractor on 100% hydraulic oil, says the only difference is the colour of the smoke when its working. :)
