hub seal

It would certainly be a factor as the halfshaft would move about in relationship to the seal. More likely in land rovers because it is an oil seal not a grease sealbas in a car.

More likely excess end float rather than bearing wear.
If hub end float is excessive the seal will distort against the stub shaft and wear quicker.
