Hope you all cool,
I'm sure you have all had a good few days in the snow!!!
Anyway, i'm new on the site (hi), We have just purchased a freelander es.
Love the car but it is a 2001 1.8.
i'm just curious to know, the engine was replaced in 2005 and cambelt done.
In the top right of the engine bay, just above the battery is a black box and this looks brand new. Any reason what it is or why it would be replaced, and in your experiences a new engine should be a good thing? providing I keep an eye on water levels and oil?
We purchased the car for camping and surfing trips, its perfect for our needs. It's the 3 door with removable hood.
Really good site with tons of advice, however I am slightly worried (seeing the stats on the engine).
But its a good car. Well saying that my last off road trip was a safari up the side of a very rocky mountain in a Hyundai Getz whilst tracking Leopard. I suppose you can climb just about anything (in anything) taking caution and if you have the passion.
Im ready for all the name calling, gay lander, sell it, burn it, doors still on, build a house etc...any more are welcome that can get us all laughing though.
Thanks Guys.
Adi
