Hey Guys,

Just wondering how all your chassis's are doing?

Mine is in a bit of a sorry state, well a serious state.

I have almost finished pretty much making a chassis (major patching and and new plating).

Wanted to get an idea of how all your chassis's are so I have a rough idea of how long mine will last?

i welded a 1990 chassis from pillar to post about 3 yrs agao then waxoiled it and it as had no more welding since :)

and its still in good shape

I've got a '93 110 200TDi and my chassis is fair. It needs a new rear crossmember and the drivers side front outrigger is just about gone. Behind the rear axle the chassis is quite bad, so that's getting done in the next few weeks.
After that, it's waxoyl all round and I think it will be ok. So certainly not the worst I've heard of!

Spent 6 evenings cleaning the chassis with wire brush and pressure washer, then painted with black hammerite.

The wife had to wash paint out of my hair and off my back.

Going to waxoyl it this weekend. I don't deserve rust, with the effort I have been putting in.

Ok,

So I am not quite finished yet. AAARRRGGGHHHH!

I have finished the rear now, and have started to hamerite the whole chassis. Going to be putting the tub back tomorrow evening.

Just leaves me the welding of a new panel behind the gearbox crossmember, and the outrigger for the front radius arm.

Will all let you know how I get on towards the end of the week.

I think next time I will just buy a galvanised chassis.
