I'd whip the props off and give the output flanges a good tug / wiggle.
If there's more than about 1/8 of a turn of play or 1mm of end-float you've got a problem.

Don't know too much about it.
I know you can change the output bearing in-situ, but I doubt that's the cause of yer problem.
