how to remove black window sealent rubbery gubbins from bodywork

when i got my landy, i had rear windows stuck in't bk.
however some of the black rubbery sealent obviously got pushed out from under where the frame of the windows is and is a bit smeared onto the body work, above the window. anyone know of a way to peel/scrape/cut this excess rubbery crap away so i have the smooth edges to my window frames as desired?

if its dum dum which is normally used in fixing glass, white spirit works well, probably parrafin/petrol too

Hammerite thinners is basically acetone (nail varnish remover) and removes anything sticky.
