My recent purchase has been half brush painted and its faided . I can see the original paint under they new paint , is there any way that I can get bodge paint off and reveal original paint . its quite loose and you can flick it off with your nail but wondered if I could use very fine sandpaper or is there another way

Thanks

you could try a pressure washer or steam cleaner got nothing to lose with either really have you

There are some cheap D/A sanders on the market although I have not used one. May be worth a go then cut/polish what is underneath ?

A friend of mine once bought an old car with a bad paint job like yours, he used gaffer tape, sticking on strips of tape and ripping it off, it worked well!

So are you trying to save the paint underneath?
We had flaky paint on the 110 and didnt want to go the nitromor chemical paint removing route so painstakingly scraped with stanley blades that did the trick then sanded smooth any edges, and keyed sound paint.
We then repainted with new colour with existing paint acting as a sound primer.

Im trying to salvage existing paint , paint on one side is pretty good and when I polished it it came up very well , am hoping to patch that side with paint and get rubbish off other side without too much damage and if that side is as good patch that also , Ive just washed it all down and im quite impressed with the overall condition of paintwork.
