I've just bought a second hand PSI powerchip from Emmotts for my 2.5 diesel, as it's not new i don't have any instructions. I have tried to find details on them and as i can gather they are very simple to fit but i'm not sure where and how to fit it so i would appreciate any help from anyone who has fitted one.

If you google "psi power box fitting". It links to a thread on this site from about 4 years ago which should help. I fitted one to my old P38 a couple of years ago. This old thread should help.
 
Thanks for the reply, i've had a quick search but can't find any clear instruction.
Just out of interest did it make a big difference to yours? i've heard/read so many different reports.
 
It did yes. Much livelier and quicker through the gear changes and got up to speed quicker. It used to kick down when accelerating again from about 60mph but with the chip it just pulled again. I think you'll enjoy it. There are plenty of threads about whether or not fuel consumption is improved. In my experience Datatek is the man to talk to about this. There doesn't seem to be much he doesn't know.
 
Well mine isn't a PSI box but there all much of a muchness. It's sort of plug and play really. Take the plug off the FIP and fit the box and enjoy! :)
 
There are a few different versions of power boxes, however the only thing you need to be aware of is that pre EGR and EGR engines require different versions of the box, so you need to establish if your engine has an EGR valve or not then check if you have the correct version of the box.
To fit you remove the connector from the FIP and replace it with the connector from the power box then plug the connector you removed from the FIP into the power box, this applies to all versions. Then there will be another small connector that goes to the MAP sensor, unplug the the existing connector, plug in the power box connector, plug the original connector into the power box. This for EGR versions.
Pre EGR it involves cutting the pressure pipe to the MAP and inserting a "T" piece and connecting the pipe from the power box.
There are other variations.
Not a good idea to use the wrong type of power box.

Thanks for that, i have a 1999 so would this be a EGR valve model?
How do i tell if the box i have bought is the right one?
I thought this was going to be a simple fit, but maybe not.

1999 should have the EGR, simple to check the inlet manifold is plastic and the valve assembly sits on the front of the manifold.:)
