How to fit a 90 into a standard! garage

Going to be moving in the next few months,
Back to the loverly North West.

Def 90 (otherwise known as Red is coming too.
Problem garage is about 4 inches too low.
anyone ever made up a set of 'small ' wheels that dropped the height by 4 inchs
so I can fit them and then get it in the garage.
No I don't plan to rip the garage out and replace, its a nice double width one, but the drive is on a bit of a slope, so not ideal for working underneath!!1
Any suggestions garatefully recieved.

When I was little one of the houses we lived in had two trenches chiselled in the garage floor. The previous inhabitants had owned a Land Rover. Seems a bit of a rigmarole to change the wheels every time you want to get the Land Rover in and out of the garage.

Its a real pain this one, you've got all that working space but no access to it. Unless its an up and over garage door that you can replace with standard one then try flattening your tyres up might get in.!

Same thing.
I found the hardtop roof scraped the garage door on the way in... once fully in the door dropped back down thus rendering the Landy wedged in!

Thankfully with a bikini top on I can drive in & out desite the slope... but the full soft top requires removing before exiting!

there is a solution though...

A mate of mine take his 37s mt off and puts on his small ats and gets it in with a inch to spare

Let the tyres down and put ratchet straps between the axles and chassis legs?

Or you could wonder down to your local tyre place and get some knackered car tyres fitted to a spare set of wheels

mine fits in a standard garage, all ive changed is the up and over door for an electric door and I don't need to let the tyres down, but its very tight

I have a double garage with a standard 14 x 7 Ft up and over door.and my defender 90 station wagon goes in ok, and my rear work light stands proud of the roof by 1 inch!!

Just let the tyres down and buy a nice air compressor to inflate them.

had the same problem with mine but i was able to raise the door and frame 4" for it to go in if you cannot do this i would lower the floor a big job but you could do a pit at the same time as well

don't think you'll loose 4 inches on the tyres though without ruining them very quickly. The tyres would have to be flat.

You could get 4 dolly boards like they use in car showrooms to move cars around on. Take the tyres off and sit the brake disc onto the dolly and roll it in.

Still seems a bit of a faff though!

I would go for digging in to the floor. Inflating and deflating tyres must take at least 20 mins each time which is a bit if a faff

I thought i was the only person in the world to have done this. When i bought my first landy (lightweight) i cut two channels in the floor so she would go in and when i moved just re-concreted the channels
