how to change UJs

A couple of suitable sockets, a decent vice and circlip or snipe nosed pliers. Once the prop is off takes about 15 minutes each end.

I eventually had to give in on mine due to lack of time,as I couldn't get the second circlip to seat, and very very painfully had to take the loose props into an inde (rang my local dealer, as they are just round the corner who said 'We've got no-one here who has ever done these before - never worked on a car that age'!!!!! I'm fairly certain new ones have the same setup, but not 100% sure!).

When I went to pick them up, they hadn't done them so I hung around while they did. The circlip I couldn't get to seat they just took one look at and said 'needs tapping home with a punch'. So if they are nearly there (not to be confused with dropped pins) its worth giving them a tap it would seem.

Always try to budge the circlip with an old screwdriver or similar first or you could snap your circlip pliers ;)

New land rovers ie sport disco 3 and 4 range rovers evoque and freelanders dont use hardy splicers only the defenders do now

Took my props off and took them to my local indy. They supplied the new UJ's (Hardie Splicers)and only charged me £10.00 labour to fit the new ones back in. I tried to do it myself once and made a right pigs ear of it.
regards

Dave
