Hello!
I´m about to change the turbo on my td5. I´ve never done this so is there something I should know?

Should I fill the turbo with oil before I put it in place?

You can't really fill it, it will just run back out. Stick a little scoot of oil into the intake thats the best you can do. As soon the the oil pressure is up it's sorted anyway, thats why it's a bad idea to rev a diesel up at start and rev it up then turn of the engine as the turbo then runs with fluid bearing.

Once you bolt the turbo on and fit the drain hose it wont hurt to pump some engine oil into the top banjo connection before you fit the oil feed hose. Most of it will drain out back to the sump but at least there will be a film of oil on the turbo shaft. Even at idle the turbo will spin albeit at relatively slow speed.
The turbo gets full oil pressure direct from the oil pump so as Disco says once your oil light goes out you're good to go.
