How much should I offer?

I have seen a Series III, near to my house, and it has been sat there for roughly 10 years probably. I've looked in through the window, it needs a whole new interior and look like there is possibly rats/mice. To my knowledge it hasn't been started since it was first put there. Glass also looks like it needs a clean up as it's green.
Does anyone have a rough amount I could offer for this, bearing in mind it needs new interior, engine possibly doesn't work. Needs a respray and a new rear left tyre.
TIA

got any photos?

chances are he won't want to sell anyway

offer £50 - purchase price is insignificant compared to what you'll spend if its a restoration :)

I'm not sure if he will sell or not, It is taking up space outside his workshop. And never seems to be doing much, I've thought about offering maybe a few hundred. But I don't really want to pay anything over £450 really as it could be a minefield of problem after problem

3 - 400 is prob about max it's worth.
You also need to factor major chassis repairs or replacement, same for bulkhead.
Brakes and springs will likely be shot along with tyres.
Probably wiring loom if rodents are in residence.
Engine may be seized and transmission will want a good service at least.
If it's a project you're after then go for it but as well as money you will need loads of space and time and enthusiasm!!
No harm in trying to at least talk to the owner to see how the land lies though!

Why not just ask him if he is willing to part with it and if he is what he would want for it at least then you would know if he is being sensible price wise and whether or not it's even worth entering into negotiations as you say it's sat there for 10 years I am sure he would give you time to mull it over!

My S3 was in a field for 10 years on next doors farm, been there since i was a kid, the PO passed away, same condition, gave £200 for it, it ran the next day on the same crap that had been in it for those years i assume! :D start from "i'll take it off your hands" and work up if you have to :)

X1 on last post. It's a complete liability so it's worth is barely more than the cost of moving it. If the owner thinks its worth a whole lot more he's deluded.

Just say to him, Its about time you gave that to me so I can restore it, Should get a laugh and break the ice. Then you can tell him your serious.
Shouldnt be long before you find out if he will part with it.
