How much is my Series LR worth

It is time to sell my old Series 2. Log book series 2, but looks like series 3 inside and out. Reluctant sale, but cannot see me using it again. Used to get me to and from work and give me fun on gentle off road tracks and in winter it was fantastic.

Re-built from the chassis up. Always wax oiled inside and out every year.

Heavy duty leaf springs added.

Safari roof.

Tax exempt, excellent capstan winch - proper Fariey one I think. Double bullbars (one for capstan winch and one extending whole front end - RangeRover bullbar I think originally). Brand new (when fitted) Fairey Overdrive in excellent order, 5 spoke wheels, 750 tyres in excellent condition plus spare.

Nicely done inside, non-standard seats that are really nice.

Stopped using it when it started to smoke a bit. Would still pass an MOT because emissions not tested on Classic Car. Insurance fully comp was always under £100.

I suspect a dropped piston ring as compression is a bit low on one cyclinder. But engines are cheap.

Could do with a repaint (not a big job unless someone wants a mont LR)

What does the forum think this is worth?

Would it be better to take capstan and overdrive off and sell separately?

Thanks in advance, will try to dig out some photos - taken in the days before digital.

Anyone likely to be looking to buy a landrover will be looking for a bargain and therefore less likely to give an honest opinion, so moving it here is questionable.

I am not trying to sell it.

I am trying to find out if it is worth selling or better to start using it again.

It has been safely stored for 10 years and another 10 years won't hurt it.

£2k or £4k is all I want to know to make me decide whether to sell or keep.

Will try alternative sources of information as the For Sale section will not elicit honest opinions.

Feel free to delete my post.

No pictures so difficult to say. Bulkhead condition etc.?
It sounds almost like a project vehicle to me.....smokey engine and little used. It doesn't sound original either (seats etc)
I don't wish to insult you in any way but I think you would be lucky to scrape £1300 - £1500 with a sickly engine. Probably £2k with a nice engine, and £4k for a nice, well presented example.

Thank you.

Via other websites I can see that S2 landrovers, but having been made to look like S3 (it has S3 gearbox too) go for up to £7k and above (if tax exempt) and if in good condition.

So all I have to do is spray it, drop a new engine in (I have one).
Or keep it for fun days.

The capstan winch in excellent condition seems to sell for £200 upwards. I could get £300 for it easily.
Brand new copies go for £1k.

The overdrive must be worth more, will go and check. So it looks like IF I sell, I will take those 2 pieces off.

After 10 years, I am in no rush.
