How much does it cost to change back to air suspension?

Hi,

My range rover has spring coil and I wonder how much to change it back to air?

If I can lower the car by 2-3" then I would not bothered changing it back to air but there seems to be lack of any -2" or -3" springs, only lift springs?

Please everyone this is not a spring and air debate thread, just want to know the cost involved :fencing:

Depends what has been removed.

A lot of people will gut the whole EAS system so you'll need the compressor, valve block, ecu, bags, etc. You'll need to check what is missing from your car then assume there is a problem with what remains. So anything from £250 (air bags and EAS refurb kit) to about £600 for the whole system. It can work out cheaper to get a donor with working EAS and a refurb kit so when you're done you can either sell on the donor as a coiled P38, sell it as scrap or keep it as a parts donor. This should lower your costs to less than buying the bits and bobs you need from eBay.

It depends what you want from the car really: a sprung range rover is really just a better equiped disco. The EAS gives it the superior ride, adaptability and safety :)
 
You should be able to pick up an EAS box complete on Ebay for less than £100, I got one with no compressor for £50. If the pipes are missing, that will be a bit of work but will not cost a lot, an ECU can be had for £30. Airbags new Dunlops for less than £300. If the height sensors are missing that will be expensive.
You can recoup some of the cost by selling the springs.

Oh yes, I forgot that bit. They are hard to find on their own, a donor with EAS will make it easier.

Look for a V8 with ****ered heads/slipped liners. There are loads of them about going for a few hundred wingwangs.

Bloody hell Keith how much is he going to get for a pile of rusty scrap?
 
A mate of mine was told by a main stealer that it was cheaper for him to go on coils than fix his air suspension!!!! They (James Edwards of Chester) took £2500 off him to do the job. I wonder if the job went through the books? Sorry £1200

Yeah but at a dealers that's only six hours labour and £150.00 worth of parts. :D:D
