Ok I know this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string question" but I thought I'd try and get a rough idea of prices you guys paid for your series resto projects.

I've been offered a S3 diesel, fairey overdrive, safari roof etc. Needs some welding to the chassis and bulkhead but not irrepairable. It's all there and comes with another S3 with a buggered chassis for spares.

I haven't seen it yet so the chassis could be completely shot but you never know your luck.

What do you reckon is a fair price for something like that if what he says is true?

After spending a year driving around looking at complete crap I paid £900 for a series 3 diesel that was taxed and tested. It was a bit of a shed to drive it is now my daily driver ive sorted all the bodges and worn bits this cost around £600 and was done bit at a time whilst in daily use and could be better if i fitted a 200 di but that is for a day when i get peed off with the weedy 2 1/4

hopefully get to see them this week sometime but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The chap did say that he had the runner put in for an mot last year and the garage quoted him £800 to repair and mot it  so I'm guessing a fair bit of welding needs doing but I don't know how much as the garages round here ain't cheap so it might not be too much.

I'll take some pics when I go and post 'em on here to see what folk reckon.

£800 for welding don't go that far to be Honist
It's always hard to quote becouse you never know where it will end unroll your
Finished
I would say with that suze quote probally 3 days work for a skilled guy but it does depend
On what they charge an hour

If you don't want to rebuild the things straight away I'd keep looking and try and find something that was a viable runner with an MOT now. Before buying it I'd asses that chassis and body so that I had some idea what I was letting myself in for and if major repairs were likely soon I'd keep looking.

Good vehicles are around at reasonable prices - but if you're going to pay £800 now then another £800 for welding and things before you've even driven it you'd be much better paying £2000 for a good vehicle.
