10 MPG on LPG equates to (Roughly) 14/15MPG on Petrol which is the same as I am getting buzzin around town.

People ALWAYS assume you get better MPG on LPG ..YOU DON'T you get LESS!! but ..... as yer only paying 50p ish per litre instead of 120p you go further for LESS MONEY!!!

On a run I easily get 19MPG. If I drive like a priest then I can squeeze out 21MPG. As for running about the town I seam to average 14MPG. For sure my RR is an over fed, under powered beast. My 5.4L Navigator returned over 25MPG and went like a rocket. Didn't do much off road mind you..

OK - now this is worrying me - I am taking delivery of a 4.6 HSE running on LPG, and I was expecting 15ish mpg on gas - which would equate to a similar fuel cost to my Freelander that does 28mpg - hmmmm

if your not in a position to keep a thirsty landrover my advice is walk away from the deal, on top of all the other things that randomly happen that will cost you money it will only give you heart ache.

i know that you get about 15-20% less mpg on gas just was hoping for around 12 mpg but not that fussed was just curious really works out on gas about 29p a mile and ive just had the lpg tuned/serviced so should be running at its best just a rough guide for the person thinking of buying the lpg range and im not driving it hard either but this is all town driving no runs so maybe get abit more on a run hope this helps you with your decision

i have 2 p38s running on lpg both 4.6 about town/school run i get about 10-12mpg on a run most ive ever had is 18mpg may be able to get more but i dont drive with an egg under my throttle pedal so im not sure
however remember these rangies weigh 2.5 ton 4.0 or 4.6 ltr v8 thats alot of cylinders and cc,s to feed:)

I had a 105 litre tank in my Disco (Before I bought the P38) on a run I'd get 300 miles to 85 litres ( Allowing a 15% gap in the tank)

85 litres is approx 19 Gallons @ 54p/litre or £2.45 a gallon = 15.78 MPG or 1.64p per mile

85 litres of Petrol 19 gallons @ 1.20/litre or £5.44 a gallon = 15.78 MPG or 3.75p per mile

So running Petrol cost you 3.5 times more (in pence per mile) than it does on LPG

Or another way ..............

You drive 1000 miles on LPG the cost is .....1.64 X 1000 = £1640.00

You drive the same 1000 miles on Petrol ....3.75 X 1000 = £3750.00

You've just saved yerself £2110 in fuel costs .. its IRRELVENT what it does MPG wise the SAVINGS are in the INITIAL COST OF THE FUEL

& whilst we're on this subject DO NOT EVER go to a "Garage" for yer LPG ... Jump on Google or Yellow pages & find yer local "Gas" supplier ( the guys like Calor or Shell gas or Amazon Gas ect) these guys buy HUGE AMOUNTS of gas to supply local Farms & them Green tanks you see dotted about the place for Central Heating boilers in houses ect

If I really was "Pushed" fer LPG I could probs get it at 45p /litre from places like "Air/Gas products" in Carrington ect....

Theres a place on Central Drive in Blackpool thats floggin LPG at 59p/litre if I go around the coner to Hoo Hill Ind estate I can get it fer 49p/litre

Looking at the figures here from you guys

My Freelander does 0.15lt per mile @ £1.15.lt = 17p per mile

A P38 LPG will prob do 0.375lt per mile @ 50p/lt = 19p per mile

A hike of 2p per mile is worth the money for the added comfort and gun space

Iv got a 4 litre running sequential lpg, if I do a combo of town and long runs I can get 210 miles of £50, if its just town I get about a 100 miles. Thats based on 61p per litre, Iv also got a stainless exhaust on mine and like hearing it so I dont drive too lightly either.
Until you have owned something that uses more fuel it seems like alot.

20 to 23 mpg around town, most I've got on a long run was 29.8mpg but was fairly constant at 80mph. Don't exactly have a light foot but then the 2004 Mistubishi Galant I had before the P38 was 2.0 petrol & only average about 25mpg around town so at least diesel is way cheaper than petrol here
