How long for a changed V5 to come back?

I finally (only 6 months late) sent off my V5 to update it for the 200tdi engine... anyone idea how long it should take the DVLA to process it and return it to me? It has been 3 weeks now and still no sign of the revised V5. I've got the MOT coming up soom so kinda need it back!

Still, on the plus side, the DVLA now let you tax a historic vehicle online (it used to be post office only) which makes life easier, and always nice to see the total as £0.00

(It actually costs them money for me to have a tax disc when you take into account the letters, admin costs, stamps, etc.)

I'd rather ask people who have had realistic experience than fight my way through a automated phone system which has been designed by a pre-school group of Indian kids, sit on hold listening to some c**p midi music before finally getting to speak to someone who won't know wht a V5 is. - Oh - whilst paying for the privillage of the phone call.

The misses has just spent a whole day trying to get a replacement driving license after hers was stolen (with her purse) - it resulted in her coming very close to throwing the laptop out of the window due to their website repeatidly crashing and being hung up on by someone who didn't have a clue on their phone system.
Needless to say... she still hasn't succeeded in getting a repalcement

I maybe should have said the longest I ever had to wait for docs to come back from DVLA was two weeks.

Which is why I suggested you called them......or do nothing. It's your call

Ah, ok, thanks.

My dad just emailed to say there was a letter from the DVLA for me at theirs. Now considering every vehicle i own is registered at mine and the tax disc letter came to mine i would have thought the V5 would come to me, but, my driving licesne is still registered at my parents, so, it is possible that they used that address for some reason.

Why would you need the V5 for an MOT ? All I`v e ever needed was a credit card and some tranquilisers.....................

Yes... all my V5's have my address on, but, my dirving license has my parents.

When i've bought vehicles the V5's have come through to my address, not my parents.
My tax disc stuff comes through to my address, not my parents.

So, when i sent off a V5, with my address on it to update ONLY the engine information i would expect it to be returned to my address, not my parents.

Is that tooo much to assume?

(still don't know if it is the V5 at theirs though, should probably find some time to go and collect it)

Agreed it is odd.

The DVLA should only send documents concerning the vehicle to the address of the registered keeper of the vehicle.

The letter at your parents should only concern your driving licence.
