How do you speed up warmup time 300tdi?

Now that the cold weathers just started I was wondering if anyone was any tips on improving the time it takes for a 300tdi to warm up ??:eek:
 
you can buy a pre heating kit that warms the cooling system up for you. this can be done manwelly or on a timer. with the manwell version you have to go out and switch it on. the timer one has a kinda alarm clock fitted which turns the system on 30mins or whatever before you want to drive off.

ave no idea if they are any good or the cost of them but i know they are availible
 
I've got a Kenlowe one in the S3, it's just a leccy powered heated water pump that's inline with the cooling system - it's handy if you know what time your going out but remembering to turn it on is a pain and it uses a good few hundred watts - and takes a good while to get usefully warm - and they is about £250

how much is a hat these days ?
 
if yer going to work at the same time every day and returning home at the same time then you can use the timer to switch it on so yer engine is warm when you go out to start it.
a woolly hat dint help overcome the wear and other problems associated with running a cold engine. it also has the advantage of clearing yer windscreen of mist, in a way far superior than wiping it with yer woolly hat
 
engine wear has got a lot to do with how it's treated in the first few minutes from startup - i've known peeps who trash the nuts of their motors from cold and then wonder why it's shagged out after 30K

but it's sooooooo nice to get into a vehicle that has got a preheater, especially when it's king cold n frosty

it also has a bit to do with the sudden increase in temp due to the combustion, so if you can warm yer injun up gently it will help aleeveeight some of the problems. it wont help with the lack of circulated oil and such . but am sure it will help in some small way.

if its cold around here ,which on occassion it is, i nip out while the kettle is boiling and start me injun then leave it on tickover fer 10 mins or so. this simple and effective method ensure i have a warm passenger compartment and mist free windows.

the car theft rate goes through the roof when it's frosty over ere

i have a double garage thinking it'd be nice to have a frost free car, but there's no room in it for cars, just bits of them

ah well
 
ah the joys of living in the french wilderness. yer can leave yer car keys in all the time and not worry. yer can go out and leave yer door open and not worry. but the best bit is ..its too far fer the jehovah's witlesses to walk up the drive
