i might once have welded a 6 inch square patch over a damp rusty bit on a 600 gallon bulk diesel tank..... with fuel in it....but its not something id recommend anyone trying.

I might be having a bonfire in my 90 shortly and you are all invited provided you bring your own beer as the f in thing has skint me for sure today and isn't even nr back together yet.

done temp tank repairs with a butterfly bolt before.
open hole to 1/2 inch so butterfly goes thru, big washer on outside with lump of rubber underneath. nipped up and sealed good.

Thought you were not meant to lift landies on 2 posters:rolleyes:

do what dr evil said- alu gauze and isopon chemical metal. i did it on an exhaust for an m.o.t. - worked perfectly and saved me £30 for welding

drill a hole in the centre of a 5p coin ( reet through the queens sneb )
then put a blind pop rivet through that and a rubber tap washer aswell so that squashes between the 5p and the tank then shove the rivvet int ole and gun it up and will probably outlast the tank
