How do i Fit New rear Wings to a 90

i need to fit new rear wings on my Defender.

Has anyone done this before?

What method of fixing did you use?

I don't have a spot welder, I dont like the idea of rivets, i have thought of using sikaflex but don't know if this would be sufficient enough as i intend to get a roof rack in time. Looking at the wing the load is distributed all the way down and through to the inner wheel arch.

If i did use sikaflex i could get a silky smooth spotless panels without the spot welds. Sikaflex is good and i have hung bumpers in the past with it. but is it that good?

Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could get yourself a nice new undented rear tub for a fair-ish price on ebay. Or if its the roof you mean then equally you could just buy a new roof.
Are you sure your not driving it backwards all the time and you mean the front wings?..lol..sorry mate only kidding you gotta have a rubbish sense of humour looking like i do

I would always refer to em as wings, front or back!

I guess you mean the panel under the rear windows (or where they should be if you had a SW) - behind the front doors?

Yeah that bit. i dont know mate. id have thought it was all connected to the rear tub, in which case surely it would be easier to just replace it completely? if that is what you propose to replace? have you had a smash and looking for a cheaper way to fix it?

Both rear "wings" are badly dented and unfillable.
200.300Tdi tubs are old now, and im looking for all new panels throughout. TD5 have the fuel cap in the wrong place. i have a surplus rear tub that has bad panels also.

Im perplexed that no-one has done this repair!!

dependers don't need stickers, they just have the dents

It's the tub, one big piece...

you can buy the panel!!

It's a skin that you need to spot weld or some numptys rivet them in, it's not like unbolting it and sticking on a new one.

If it's anything like my previous 110 you can buy em as bolt in (complete with wheel box ready attached).

I have not found one with the wheel box yet. Only for a series.

sounds like a nightmare. but you said you had a spare tub, if you got the tools and the knowledge it will be a sinch.

Mine was a genuine landrover one. It was £500 new.

why bother even new defenders dont have straight panels
